How can I make a ceramic like pet food dish?
I was wondering if there was a way I could make my own food dish for my dog or cats? [: (Without going to a pottery place to buy one.) Also, would there be any way for me to paint it, and keep it safe for the animals? Any suggestions would help! I always wanted to try this. Thanks!
I think crayola makes a clay that you can shape and it hardens under water. I used it once, and anything crayola makes should be safe for animal use. The paint is probably what you need to be careful about. Also if you buy a ceramic dish from a store that is oven safe you can buy a paintable glaze called stroke and coat that you can design and color with then bake in the oven. The heat makes it safe for consumable use.
Also, be friendly with a local school and ask if you can do it there with real clay and glazes.
