Ceramic Greenware
how do I repair plaster molds? They’re used to make ceramic greenware.?
Hi:
If you do have an original piece, you can easily make a new mold. Depending on the piece, with an original, you can pretty easily make a new mold from plaster, probably following the style of the original mold, you might have to make that many mold pieces. It might be easiest if you need to do this to go to a library and check on ceramic books to see this process or take a local class. It really is easy to do, it’s just it probably is best to see the process. You might also be able to repair the mold – check out the Compleat Sculptor website for maybe some compounds that would adhere well enough to the plaster and have the basic same properties.
Hope this helps and gives you some ideas.
