What is the reason of breaking roller kiln while reducing the temprature?
what is the reason of breaking roller kiln while the kiln’s trmprature is reducing?
I am the technician of a roller kiln producing ceramic tile at 1250 centigrade,the rollers of kiln were breaking while the tempratuer was reducing due to shortage of gas.the duration of reducing of temprature was gradualy and very slowly but unfortunatly more than 500 pieces were broken during five days reduction of temprature
I assume the rollers are ceramic, but which ceramic they are can be critical. Almost all ceramics are brittle, some have relatively high thermal coefficients of expansion, and some are low strength. (See ref. 1.) Not to tell you your business, but it seems that ceramic rollers have some pretty special requirements regarding preparation for and length of service (ref. 2). This problem sounds like something you need to discuss with your kiln vendor.
