Contemporary Ceramic Studio
what do i have to do to get a good job working in the visual arts?
I have a degree in fine arts and ceramics, and another in art education. I tried being an art teacher in the public school system, but it was not for me. ceramics and sculpture are my true passion, but i can’t find any kind of work where i can use those skills besides teaching. my dream is to one day own my own contemporary craft gallery and studio, but so far i haven’t even been able to make enough money to pay my bills, so that goal is along way off. i have been thinking about going to grad school for art administration but i am afraid to take out more loans. i tried grad school for a semester but i could not afford it financially and i was also working full time while doing an unpaid internship and taking classes. I have been working on refining my resume, and applying to different jobs that look interesting, but nothing has worked out yet. what can i do???
Sometimes when we are searching for answers to our career questions it is helpful to listen to audio tapes or read motivational resources. Think Big and “Napoleon Hill’s” Think and Grow Rich are good resources while you are redirecting your energy into your new artistic career directions.
So often it seems more and more education is the answer because we are programmed to believe information is power. However we often need to use our current information and change our course a bit to find that perfect career fit.
I keep these audio resources on an ipod and listen to them regularly. Seems redundant at times, but it works for me.
Have an artistically inspiring day.
