History of Fiestaware

Fiestaware is a line of colored plates designed by Frederick Rhead for Company Homer Laughlin Pottery Hurter Newell, West Virginia. The table is easily recognizable with their bright colors, concentric rings, and the enamel finish.
The company was originally known under the name of the company Ohio Valley Pottery and renamed Laughlin Brothers Pottery. "Founding Company – Shakespeare and Homer Loughlin – separated in 1879 and the company was sold to investors in 1897. It was not until 1907, when Homer Laughlin China Company located its headquartered in Newell, West Virginia.

During the 1950's, while red was removed from the product range, four new colors were introduced. The colors, forest green, pink, chartreuse green and gray, are known today as "fifty colors. "
Over the years there were other colors and discontinued. Today, there is strong demand from collectors of the "Original 6" or "colors fifties." These vintage pieces are extremely rare and can reach a high price in the antique shops and auctions.
Fiestaware is available form new ones in many colors like tangerine, peacock, red chocolate, and clover. Fiestaware dishes not only bowls and plates.
